Skudo USA

The Brief

Skudo USA, a trusted provider of temporary surface products, sought to overhaul their outdated website. The goal was to craft a more professional online presence that would enhance user experience for architects, contractors, and dealers. Our long-standing relationship with Skudo since 2012 facilitated close collaboration, allowing us to tailor the website’s features to meet the diverse needs of their audience.

Our Approach

First, we invested time in understanding Skudo’s multifaceted audience. This guided us in customizing content that would resonate with architects, contractors, distributors, and dealers alike.

We identified the key features that would address user pain points. This led to the creation of specialized tools like a project calculator, a ‘where to buy’ map, and a product finder.

Utilizing Beaver Builder on top of WordPress, we engineered a website that was not only visually compelling but also easy for Skudo’s team to update. This choice of technology solved the client’s previous struggles with site maintenance.

One of our savvy developers did a lot of work to figure out the most efficient way to convert plain, flat, crowded PDFs into interactive images. To do this, he photoshopped all of the images into circles and added them as the tooltips for each marker so they could function as hotspots. It turned out super cool! See for yourself below.

What it Used to Look Like

Skudo had been using PDF images to showcase their projects and services.

The Result

After launch, Skudo’s website experienced a remarkable surge in engagement—up by 50%. This translated into higher visibility, showing a 43% increase.

User experience was significantly enhanced, evidenced by the doubling of views per user. This suggested that customers found it easier to locate the products they needed, whether by project, surface type, or other categories.

The custom features we built, such as the project calculator and ‘where to buy’ map, provided innovative solutions that set Skudo apart in a competitive market.

Our collaboration with Skudo USA resulted in a successful project that elevated both user experience and business operations, fostering a stronger competitive edge for the client.

From the Client

The response time is probably what I’m most happy about when it comes to working with Smack Happy Design. When something happens or if I have a question, I feel like it gets handled almost immediately.

The other thing that I really like is the training that’s available. Smack Happy has really empowered me to update things on our website myself. I love that they make these videos for me just showing me how to do things and I’ve gone back and referenced them a few times.

We are a small business, so everybody wears a lot of hats. The website is not really one of my hats, it just sort of falls in my lap. With Smack Happy, I’m able to talk to them about what’s in my head, what I want to do, and then they just kind of run with it.

I feel like generally everyone I’ve worked with has always been very easy to talk to, and very professional.
