Alexander Tutoring
The Brief
Alexander Tutoring is a website for a mathematics and physics tutoring business in a one on one environment. The new website was meant to be a more modern style that is simple and different than other tutoring websites—all encapsulated in a space/universe/physics styled theme. Sean, the client, also wanted to be able to make changes easily as the company grows and stand out from other basic tutoring sites out there.
Our Approach
From the sitemap and prototype to the design iterations—we worked closely with Sean to bring his dream website to life. We approached this design with Sean’s creative vision in mind.
- We incorporated a darker theme versus a more traditional lighter theme.
- The theme also includes imagery that Sean and his team were passionate about:
- Real photos taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope
- Imagery that represents the Fibonacci sequence (a recursive sequence, generated by adding the two previous numbers in the sequence)

The Result
Right before we launched, we realized that the site would benefit from a better hosting service. We quickly switched from Justhost to WP Engine, and got it up and running several seconds faster just based on the hosting service. Since then, the team at Alexander Tutoring has shared this website with the world. They were extremely excited to announce the launch to their past and present students and parents alike.
2021 Update
What we did…
This site was already awesome, but in 2021 have kicked it up a notch with design tweaks and optimization. We added a popup for a free resource, added review badge embeds on the homepage, gave the site a new footer, new blog, redesigned the landing page template, and optimized content. The content optimization yielded great results, getting one of their service landing pages listed on Google’s page 1 in a few weeks!
