Golden Gate Polymer Forum
The Brief
The Golden Gate Polymer Forum (GGPF), a long-standing nonprofit that brings together industry and academic professionals in polymer science, needed a modernized website to better support its community and ongoing events. Their existing site housed years of posts, past events, and event management tools but lacked a contemporary look and easy usability. Our task was to redesign the site, migrate all existing content, and improve how events and custom content is presented. Our goal was to elevate both design and functionality without disrupting their established systems.
Our Approach
We began by conducting a full review of the existing GGPF site to determine how to preserve all content and functionality while improving aesthetics and structure. This included planning a clean, modern design aligned with their professional, science-focused audience. We also outlined a sitemap of six main pages to ensure clarity and ease of navigation.
To support GGPF’s ongoing programs, we prioritized migrating all posts and past events, transforming Jobs and Resumes into proper custom post types, and ensuring seamless integration with Event Espresso and Constant Contact.
Finally, we allocated development time to upgrade the visual presentation of Event Espresso, making its appearance consistent with the new site design. We also incorporated essential spam protection and prepared recommendations for their post-launch website care.
The Result
The final website delivered a polished and modernized user experience while maintaining all the tools and historical content GGPF relies on. Their events, news, and job-related content became easier to manage and more visually aligned with the updated design. Visitors can now navigate the site more intuitively and engage with GGPF’s offerings more effectively.
The enhanced look and feel of Event Espresso brought their event pages up to the same standard as the rest of the redesign.
- Consistent styling across all event pages
- Cleaner presentation of upcoming and past events
After launch, GGPF received a clear and sustainable care plan including site administration training, hosting, security maintenance, and plugin management—ensuring that the site will remain secure, functional, and easy to maintain as their organization continues to grow.
