Business Website: Hacked & Unsupported to Secure & Stable
When this client first came to us, they had inherited a website from a previous developer. On the surface, the site worked. But under the hood? It was a ticking time bomb.
The Goal
Overcome the following challenges:
- Outdated Technology: The theme was no longer supported, making updates and security patches impossible.
- Suspicious Activity: User accounts were disappearing, files were being edited, and emails were being spoofed.
- Security Risks: With multiple overlapping plugins and no proper backups in place, the site was vulnerable to hacks, blacklisting, and email deliverability issues.
- No Maintenance Plan: The client had opted out of hosting and ongoing maintenance, leaving them exposed without a safety net.
The Solution
First we began with our 360° Assessment. We audited the site from top to bottom, identifying unsupported theme issues, risky plugins, and possible backdoors. Next we updated business details, cleaned images, and removed suspicious users.
Finally, we implemented a full, strategic migration to a clean WordPress install. This gave the client a fresh, supported foundation without the hidden vulnerabilities of the old site.
The Result
The client’s website was migrated within one week of approval. Email security risks were neutralized, restoring trust in their digital communications. The business now has a secure, supported, and stable online presence – free from the baggage of outdated tech.
This project is a reminder of why hosting, maintenance, and security aren’t “nice-to-haves.” They’re critical. Without them, businesses risk hacked websites, blacklisting, and even losing access to their online presence altogether.
