Project Summary
Brief
The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization focused on attracting, growing, and retaining business in San Francisco. They support members through business development opportunities, economic advocacy, and representation at the local, state, and national level.
They came to us needing a website that could do real work: serve as a marketing and communications tool, position the Chamber as a thought leader, and establish credibility with potential partners and members.
Method
We started by getting clear on their goals, audience, and content priorities. That work led to developing a buyer persona to help their team write and communicate with a consistent voice across all channels. From there, we built out a detailed sitemap and prototype to untangle their existing navigation and give content a logical home. Once the structure was set, we moved into design, refined it based on their feedback, and built out a custom WordPress theme.
The final phase was content. We developed a Content Migration Plan that mapped existing pages, identified what to keep, what to rewrite, and what to cut, informed in part by SEO data. Their team was hands-on throughout, which made the whole process move.
After launch, the Chamber worked with a third-party branding agency on updated brand direction. We implemented that new branding across the site.
Result
The finished site brought together a clean navigation structure, a business directory, event pages, responsive design, Yoast SEO with local schema, and the integrations their team needed to communicate effectively with members and the broader SF business community.

In Their Words
It’s totally cliché, but if I could give this team six stars, I absolutely would! Nicole and Danielle were so kind, attentive to our needs, level-headed, and above all really, REALLY good at their jobs. They were very easy to communicate with and always available for any questions or to provide clarification. I was a one-woman team in assembling the content for our new website, and every time we encountered a delay the Smack Happy team was patient and helpful and provided resources for me to help push the project forward.
Seriously cannot recommend this team enough!! (Not to mention it’s even better supporting a local women-owned business!!)
