Berkeley-based fire experts, Reax Engineering, needed a completely re-built website and SEO plan in order to help their booming business continue to grow. They sent out an RFP asking for quotes and Smack Happy was there to help. Chris Lautenberger & David Rich, our point-men for the project, also asked for help with hosting as their current site was locally hosted via a LAMP server and everytime the power or internet went out, their website went offline. Our goals were to keep the lights on as well as showcase their expertise, skills and overall knowledge to prospective clients through the content on the new site.
First, we recommended that the final website be hosted on WP Engine—as this made a lot of sense for their brand new WordPress site. WP Engine is fast, reliable, and offers great support as their only focus is on WordPress websites.
The team at Smack Happy design worked alongside with Rob (Reax Engineering graphic designer) to create a beautiful, well-organized site that would appeal to their target audience and drive traffic. Reax had quite a bit of content on the old site that they wanted to transfer over to the new site via some migration efforts. This process was tedious but necessary as we had to ensure that everything was placed in the correct pages and sub-pages for the newly renamed services and projects in the site navigation. After the content had been migrated, we polished and prepped the site for launch.
The crew at Reax Engineering are definitely one of our (many) favorites to work with. Throughout the whole project, they remained easy going, very communicative, and attentive regarding design feedback and revisions. The new site is optimized, easy to use, and (most importantly) is a much more refined experience for their audience than the previous website. Reax has signed up for an ongoing care plan and will be continuing their SEO work with the Smack Happy team. A big thank you to Chris & David for their help to get this site up and going.
