Lazy Bear Chef Series

Lazy Bear, a modern  2-star Michelin rated American restaurant in San Francisco, came to Smack Happy Design looking for a fun and playful portrait series to match their field guide style.

Project Summary

Brief

Lazy Bear, a modern  2-star Michelin rated American restaurant in San Francisco, came to Smack Happy Design looking for a fun and playful portrait series to match their field guide style. Lazy Bear believes that “the best dining experiences are the ones in which we’re seated around a table sharing food and stories with others.” We totally agreed and were inspired to help them craft a part of the best dinner party experience for their guests.

Method

Each illustration needed to be a fun, playful, and irreverent portrait in a black and white sketch style to match the Lazy Bear brand. Nicole considered the playfulness of the idea and dove into each sketch with an open mind and creative eye—spending about 45 minutes on each portrait.

Result

Nicole is excitedly now the official artist for Lazy Bear! We’re so honored to be a part of this culinary journey in beautiful, delicious food and amazingly fun, memorable dinner parties.

Update: Nicole continues to illustrate beautiful pieces for all of Lazy Bear’s latest culinary adventures. Check out the latest commissions.
